What is The Cat?

The Cat is the local radio station serving Crewe and Nantwich, broadcasting under an Ofcom community radio licence.

The licence was won and awarded in 2014 and we began FM broadcasts to the local area on February 14th 2015.

The history of local radio in Crewe and Nantwich is rich and vast, with projects reaching back to the early 90s pursuing the mission of bringing a local radio station to our local towns.

The Cat is a volunteer and not-for-profit organisation. The team of 40+ volunteers donate hours of their time every week presenting shows, creating content and making magic happen in the background to deliver a full time radio service to a population of over 130,000 people.

The station broadcasts around the clock, all year round, with a combination of traditional daytime shows playing popular music and covering everything local. In the evenings specialist programming takes the spotlight, showcasing musical decades, colourful genres, alternative, and local music.
